Erholungs-Heims für deutsche Lokomotiv-Beamte
Erholungs-Heims für deutsche Lokomotiv-Beamte (Retreats / Sanatoriums for German railway workers). They were rest and recovery homes established in Germany (and other parts of Europe) mainly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their purpose was to provide health retreats for railway employees, particularly locomotive engineers and conductors, who had physically demanding and stressful jobs. Many of these homes were located in rural or spa areas known for fresh air and peaceful surroundings — ideal for recuperation from illness or exhaustion. These facilities were often supported by the state railways (Reichsbahn), trade unions, or mutual aid societies. They formed part of broader worker welfare programs in industrialized countries during that era.
