Gare Paimpol
Gare Paimpol (Paimpol station) is a French railway station on the Guingamp to Paimpol line, located in the station district near the town center of Paimpol, in the Côtes-d'Armor department of the Bretagne. It was opened in 1894 under a lease agreement with the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de l'Ouest (Western Railway Company). It is today a station of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF), served by regional express trains in Bretagne (TER Bretagne). This line, and therefore the station, is unique in that it is operated under a lease agreement by the Société des Chemins de Fer et Transport Automobile (CFTA). During the tourist season, it is one of the termini stations, along with Pontrieux, for the tourist train, La Vapeur du Trieux (The Trieux Steam Train). The station, opened as meter gauge. The passenger building consists of a central section with one floor and three openings, while two symmetrical wings have only one opening on the facade. Nearby are an engine shed and a water tower. In 1924, the line began to feel the effects of road transport. To facilitate transfers in Guingamp, it was decided to add a third rail, as permitted by the law in 1923, to allow the arrival of standard gauge trains, while retaining the meter gauge trains to maintain a connection with the rest of the Bretagne meter gauge network. That same year, which marked the peak of the station's development, the narrow gauge Tréguier-Paimpol and Plouha-Paimpol lines of the Côtes-du-Nord railways opened, each with its own dedicated passenger building. The SNCF has the passenger building open daily.
