     Henri Gray

Henri Gray (1858-1924) (pseudonym for
Henri Boulanger), was a French illustrator and poster artist. He began his artistic career creating magazine illustrations and covers, later transitioning to poster design during the vibrant "poster craze" in Paris in the 1890s.  Gray is particularly renowned for his bicycle posters, which showcase his talent for capturing the dynamism and elegance of early cycling culture. He often signed his works with the pseudonym "H. Gray." For more risqué subjects, he used the pseudonym "Grivois," meaning "spicy."  Throughout his career, Gray produced numerous posters advertising various products and events. Gray's posters are known for their classic and realistic style, effectively conveying the allure of the products and events they advertised.
