Le Musée des Sciences et des Techniques

"Le Musée des Sciences et des Techniques" (The Museum of Science and Technology)  in Paris refers to several institutions dedicated to the promotion of scientific and technical culture. Musée des Arts et Métiers, founded in 1794 is one of the oldest technical museums in the world. Initially created as a "depository of new and useful inventions", its mission is to preserve and present scientific and technical inventions and discoveries. The museum exhibits more than 2.400 objects divided into seven collections: scientific instruments, materials, energy, mechanics, construction, communication and transport. Palais de la Découverte, inaugurated in 1937 is housed in the west wing of the Grand Palais. It offers interactive exhibitions covering fields such as mathematics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, geology and biology. The Palais also has a planetarium with a 15-meter diameter dome. Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, located in the Parc de la Villette, was inaugurated in 1986.  The Cité is now one of the largest science museums in Europe, welcoming around five million visitors per year. The museum hosts a variety of exhibitions covering topics such as astronomy, physics, biology, mathematics, environmental science, and technology. It features interactive displays that encourage hands-on learning. It also offers a planetarium, a submarine (the Argonaute), an IMAX theater (La Géode) and areas dedicated to children and adolescents. Universcience: In 2009, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie and the Palais de la Découverte were grouped together under a common entity called Universcience. This public institution aims to promote scientific and technical culture among the general public, particularly young people, and to generate interest in science, research and industry.
