     Les Ponts d'Asnières

Les Ponts d'Asnières (The Bridges at Asnières) is a painting by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh in 1887, created during his stay in Paris. Pont d'Asnières is a bridge located in Asnières-sur-Seine, a suburb northwest of Paris. crossing the River Seine. This oil on canvas is a cityscape that depicts two bridges crossing the Seine River. The bridge at the top of the composition is crossed by a passenger train while a woman carrying a red parasol passes below on a platform with empty boats overhanging it. In his paintings of the bridge, Van Gogh captured the everyday life of the Parisians who frequented the area. He painted scenes of leisure, boats, and people enjoying sunny afternoons by the Seine, showing his interest in capturing light, color, and movement in nature and human life. Asnières was a popular spot for artists like Van Gogh, Seurat, and Signac, who found inspiration in the lively yet calm riverside atmosphere.
