Bahnhof Golling-Abtenau

Bahnhof Golling-Abtenau is a railway station located in the market town of Golling an der Salzach, in the Salzburg state of Austria. It serves the region of Tennengau, and also connects to the nearby municipality of Abtenau, which is why the station bears both names. The station was opened in the late 19th century, around 1875, as part of the Salzburg-Tiroler-Bahn
(Salzburg-Tyrol Railway) or Giselabahn (Gisela Railway), which was a significant railway line constructed to connect Salzburg with the Tyrolean border region. Bahnhof Golling-Abtenau became an important regional transportation hub, connecting Salzburg to Wörgl and Innsbruck. It also served as a gateway to the Lammer Valley and the Tennengebirge mountains, facilitating the movement of people and goods, especially timber and salt from the region. Over time, the station has undergone modern upgrades. Today three tracks run through the station, plus a through track. Accordingly, it has a side platform and a central platform. Platforms 2 and 3 are accessible via a wheelchair-accessible underpass with elevators beneath the tracks. Parking and the bus stop is available directly in front of the tracks. Bahnhof Golling-Abtenau is operated by Österreichischen Bundesbahnen, ÖBB, (Federal Austrian Railways). and offers both regional and long-distance services.
