Bahnhof Löbtau

Löbtau is a district of Dresden and belongs to Dresdner Stadtbezirk Cotta (Dresden district of Cotta).
At the beginning of the 20th century, Löbtau was a factory and working-class suburb, largely with densely built-up areas. In 1903, it was incorporated into Dresden with approximately 39.000 inhabitants. During World War II, Löbtau suffered building damage from bombing in 1944 and 1945, when the railway facilities (Dresden-Friedrichstadt station and Wilsdruffer Vorstadt/coal depot) were attacked. Several streets were partially destroyed. Bahnhof Löbtau (Löbtau Railway Station) is closed today.  Löbtau is connected to Dresden city center and other districts by tram and bus lines. Not far from the Löbtau district are the S-Bahn stations Plauen and Freiberger Straße, as well as the Dresden-Friedrichstadt station, which is served only by regional trains.
