Bryan De Grineau
Bryan De Grineau (1883-1957) was a English painter and etcher of motor racing and aeroplane subjects, landscapes, architectural subjects and portraits. He was born in London son of Charles Grineau, a caricaturist, and he was christened Charles William Grineau. However, he initially worked professionally under the name John Bryan, his father being known professionally as Alfred Bryan. He joined the Royal Field Artillery in France in 1916 as a 2nd Lieut and sent home sketches of the war for publication in the Illustrated London News. After WW1 he travelled widely in order to help his recovery from shell shock and he studied art in London, Paris, Antwerp, and in New York.
