Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans et du Midi
The Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans et du Midi, often abbreviated to PO-Midi, was an early French operating company of two parent railway companies. It was formed in 1934 by the operational merger of the assets of the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans and the Chemin de Fer du Midi (Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi et du Canal latéral à la Garonne or simply Midi) and made an agreement to pool the operation of their railway networks. The two companies pooled their networks, but shared the costs and revenues, according to the provisions of their operating contract. The Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi et du Canal latéral à la Garonne owned the railway lines south of a Bordeaux - Toulouse - Sète axis, the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans operated a network west of the arc formed by Quimper - Nantes - Paris - Clermont-Ferrand - Toulouse - Bordeaux. In 1938, the cooperative company and the railway interests of both parent companies were nationalised to become part of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF).
