Gare d'Antibes

Gare d'Antibes (Antibes Railway Station) is  located in the city of Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.  Gare d'Antibes was inaugurated in 1863 as part of the expansion of the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway line. This line was vital for connecting the French Riviera with major cities in France and Italy. The station was situated close to the city center, making it accessible for residents and tourists. Its proximity to the Mediterranean coastline added to its importance as a travel hub in a region that was becoming increasingly popular as a resort destination. During the late 19th century, the French Riviera, including Antibes, became a renowned destination for wealthy European travelers.  As tourism grew, so did the need for better infrastructure. Over time, the station was expanded and modernized to accommodate more passengers and freight. The station, like much of France's railway network, was affected during the two World Wars. It was used for military transport, and parts of the railway infrastructure were damaged and later rebuilt. Following World War II, Antibes underwent significant urban and economic development. The railway station became increasingly important as both a commuter hub and a gateway for international tourists. In the latter half of the 20th century, the station was integrated into France's high-speed rail network. Today, it is served by TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) services that connect Antibes with Paris and other major French cities. Gare d'Antibes continues to be a key stop on the regional TER (Transport Express Régional) network, linking the city with Nice, Cannes, Monaco, and other destinations along the Côte d'Azur. Recent decades have seen efforts to modernize the station to improve passenger experience, with upgrades to platforms, ticketing systems, and facilities.
