Gare Audierne

Gare Audierne (Audierne railway station), located in Bretagne. Audierne, a town in Finistère, was served by a railway line that linked Pont-Croix to Audierne. The station was inaugurated in 1894, when the metre-gauge train began to run between Douarnenez and Audierne. The line was operated by the Chemins de fer départementaux du Finistère (CFDF).  This line was part of the departmental railway network, sometimes called "local interest railways". Audierne station played a role in the transport of  agricultural and fishing products. It also facilitated travel for residents and the fledgling tourism in this coastal region. Like many secondary lines, Audierne suffered competition from cars and buses. The station finally closed in the 1930s for passengers and in the 1960s for freight. Today, the old station is no longer in service. Some sections of the old railway line have been transformed into walking or cycling trails, offering a way to discover the region from a different perspective
