Henry Ganier Tanconville (1845-1936) is a French painter and illustrator. After retiring as a Lieutenant in the Franco-German war, Ganier began creating illustrations and paintings, specializing in military subject matter and uniform. Towards the late 1800’s, Tanconville began producing Alsatian postcards and posters for the PLM railway company (Compagnie des Chemins de fer de Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée). Tanconville’s most well-known works are posters commissioned by PLM for French cities such as Vichy, Evian, Brides-les-Baines and Le Mont-Blanc.
