In 1912 she enrolled in a training course for arts and crafts in Berlin-Charlottenburg, at the Städtische Kunstgewerbe- und Handwerksschule Charlottenburg, where she specialized in decorative design. After she went to
Unterrichtsanstalt des Kunstgewerbemuseums Berlin, where she met the artist Raoul Hausmann.  With him she developed the technique of photomontage. Through Hausmann she became acquainted with Dadaism and the artists who were involved with it in Berlin in 1917. From 1920 she worked  in the November-Gruppe and also took part in their annual exhibition. In 1920, Höch created her most important work from the Dada period, entitled "Schnitt mit dem Küchenmesser Dada durch die letzte weimarer Bierbauchkulturepoche Deutschlands" (Cut with the Dada Kitchen Knife through the Last Beer Belly Culture Period of Weimar Germany). From 1933 to 1945, during the Nazi regime, Höch's art was considered degenerate art and she was no longer allowed to exhibit. She lived in seclusion in a northern suburb of Berlin during the National Socialist period. Academy. In her later period, Höch produced more colorful works, including abstract work. However, the collage technique continued to play a role in much of her work. A retrospective of her work was shown in 1975, at the Nationalgalerie in Berlin and at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville in Paris. Höch died in Berlin. She left behind an extensive artistic oeuvre, varying in style. After her death, her estate went to the Berlinische Galerie.
