Theo van den Boogaard
Theo van den Boogaard (1948 - ) is a Dutch comic artist. As a fifteen-year-old grammar school student, Van den Boogaard drew his first comic, Mark, Boter bij de Vis, for publisher Kennemer (1964). After that, drawings by him appeared regularly in Hitweek, including the series Striptease, in which he provided social criticism based on song lyrics. In 1969, he started Ans en Hans krijgen de kans in Aloha (and shortly thereafter in Chick), a sensational comic strip for the time, because of its free treatment of the subject of sexuality. Theo van den Boogaard won the Dutch Comics Award for his entire oeuvre in 1989.
